This study surveyed 216 adults with CKD, including kidney transplant recipients, comparing their perceptions of ChatGPT versus National Kidney Foundation generated kidney transplant information. Participants preferred ChatGPT responses in 81.3% of comparisons and rated them higher for information quality, empathy, and perceived learning, suggesting that generative AI may enhance patient education and engagement, although human oversight remains important.
