Across Borders: Global Strategies to Promote Growth in Donation & Transplantation (DCD)
October 28, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm• EST

As DCD recoveries continue to climb across the U.S., establishing consistent and effective practices is more important than ever. This webinar will spotlight innovative DCD approaches from leading programs outside the United States. Featuring experts from Canada and Spain, the session will explore both thoracic and abdominal normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) in DCD, as well as uncontrolled DCD strategies currently being implemented in these countries. Participants will gain insight into how international practices, ranging from advanced organ resuscitation to rapid-response DCD protocols, are shaping outcomes and expanding donor potential, offering valuable perspectives to guide future efforts in the U.S.

  • Identify key components and operational differences between thoracic and abdominal NRP in DCD protocols implemented in Spain.
  • Describe the logistical considerations involved in uncontrolled DCD approaches and how they differ from current U.S. practices.
  • Explain how international DCD strategies and outcomes can inform the development of standardized, evidence-based practices within U.S. donation and transplantation systems.
