The Alliance Advancement Series
Maximizing Clinical Productivity by Improving Community Collaboration

Presented on: Thursday, January 26, 2023

Historically transplant centers and OPOs have had a tumultuous relationship working against each other instead of towards to same common goal of getting patients off the transplant list and supporting donor families. This talk will discuss this relationship as well as proven strategies to help improve communication, collaboration, and collegiality. In the past two years Cedars Sinai and Lifesharing have actively worked on their collaboration, which has resulted in numerous successes that would have been impossible without being aware of each other’s needs.

  • Identify strategies to improve the working relationship between the OPO and the transplant center.
  • Employ techniques shared to improve communication efforts prior to offers for both programs to address staffing issues, recipient needs, time constraints, and any other pertinent issues.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how these techniques can be used by reviewing real-world examples of how the provided strategies have improved transplant recipient outcomes.
