Physician Engagement: Building Successful Relationships

Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 2:00pm – 3:00pm EDT / 11:00am – 12:00pm PDT

Purpose / Goal

The partnership between the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) and the physician or medical provider is essential to a successful organ donation process. When the teams are not aligned or communication breakdown occurs, these are obstacles that can lead to lost opportunities. This course will provide strategies to strengthen the relationship between OPOs and hospital providers through systems improvement, communication, and education.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify strategies for OPOs to engage medical providers for positive outcomes.
  • Describe effective communication practices to engage physicians.
  • Recognize the OPO Medical Director’s role as a resource to physician engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for physician trainee education.
