Strategies for Establishing a Successful Hospital-Based Renal Hypothermic Machine Perfusion (HMP) Program

Tuesday, May 04, 2021, at 2:00pm – 3:00pm EDT / 11:00am – 12:00pm PDT

Purpose / Goal

This webinar will explore effective strategies for implementing a successful perfusion program at a transplant center with respect to renal imports. Some transplant centers are working from the ground up and are unsure of how to best develop this type of program. Bearing this in mind, we will be joined by two hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) experts from Hackensack Meridian, Dr. Michael Goldstein and Dr. Yuriy Yushkov, who will highlight their program and how they managed to build an HMP program. They will review the successes, challenges, and potential opportunities for improvement as it relates to HMP programs.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the benefits of utilizing hypothermic machine perfusion for renal preservation.
  • Explain the benefits of establishing a transplant center hypothermic machine perfusion program.
  • Describe the steps involved to implement a hypothermic machine perfusion program at their transplant center including potential barriers and recommended solutions.
