COVID+ Donation and Transplantation: Highlighting the OPO and Transplant Center Experience

Presented on: Tuesday, November 08, 2022

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the way we facilitate donation and transplantation. Over the course of this discussion, we will welcome our colleagues from Midwest Transplant Network to share their experience with COVID+ donors since the onset of the pandemic as it relates to operations, transplant center partnerships, and transplant outcomes. Additionally, we will hear from our transplant center colleagues who will share their journey to accepting COVID+ organs, navigating the unknown, and recipient outcomes.

  • Describe the OPO experience in relation to COVID Pandemic Timeline.
  • Explain the changes in process for evaluating COVID+ Donors.
  • Summarize the Transplant Center acceptance practices for COVID+ organs.
  • Discuss recipient outcomes for those who have accepted COVID+ organs.
