The Alliance Conversation Series
Highlights from the OPTN Donation after Circulatory Death Procurement Collaborative

Presented on: Tuesday, October 18, 2022

The OPTN DCD Procurement Collaborative Improvement project aimed to support nationwide efforts to increase organs available for transplant by identifying and sharing effective practices regarding approaches to DCD procurement. Many OPOs have successfully increased DCD volumes while maintaining or increasing DBD volumes. This session will provide an overview of the Collaborative and will include demonstrations from two OPOs on how they implemented DCD procurement changes to their processes throughout the course of the Collaborative.

  • Develop an understanding of the recently concluded OPTN DCD Procurement Collaborative.
  • Learn about one OPO’s experience and improvement journey as a participant in both Collaborative’s cohorts from beginning to end.
  • Learn how one OPO implemented ideas from the Collaborative and used root cause analysis to implement process changes.
