The Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance (The Alliance) will host “AI In Action: Emerging Uses across Organ Donation and Transplantation” on Wednesday, March 25, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. ET in Orlando, in advance of the 2026 National Collaboration Forum: Transplantation & Donation Management, which takes place March 26 to 27.
Hosted by The Alliance’s Artificial Intelligence Transplant and Donation Resource Collaborative, this in-person pre-meeting will convene leaders from across organ donation, transplantation, and industry to explore how artificial intelligence is being applied in real-world settings to support decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and expand access to transplantation. The session is open to all registered Forum attendees and will be held at the Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek Orlando.
Key highlights of the AI In Action pre-meeting include sessions on:
- Agentic AI investments in transplantation, featuring perspectives from Jorge Mallea, MD, Critical Care Specialist and Consultant, and Katie McKee, MPH, Transplant Administrator at Mayo Clinic, examining how large health systems are exploring advanced AI-driven approaches.
- AI-driven clinical communication and donor management, presented by Alisha Jackson, Senior Director of Organ Services at ConnectLife, highlighting real-world applications that support lung utilization and operational performance.
- Integrating artificial intelligence into organ transplant decision-making and allocation, led by Richard Threlkeld, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Valiant AI, with a focus on emerging models that support data-informed acceptance decisions.
- Artificial intelligence in kidney allocation and acceptance, presented by Casey Canfield, PhD, Associate Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology, examining models designed to support hard-to-place kidneys and improve utilization.
- Streamlining transplant evaluation using AI, shared by Jullie Hoggan, Transplant Director at Patients.app, highlighting how technology can enhance patient engagement and experience across the transplant journey.
- AI-driven advances in personalized transplant care, presented by Jing Huang, PhD, Chief Data and AI Officer at CareDx, exploring predictive modeling, real-world clinical applications, and the future of precision transplant medicine.
Additional sessions are still being confirmed. Together, these topics are designed to move beyond conceptual discussions and highlight how artificial intelligence tools are already being implemented, tested, and refined across donation and transplantation practice. The pre-meeting will also provide opportunities for dialogue among clinicians, administrators, researchers, and technology leaders navigating similar challenges and opportunities.
Participation in the AI In Action pre-meeting is a special add-on as part of the National Collaboration Forum registration process. Registration for the National Collaboration Forum is required in order to participate. Space is limited and expected to fill quickly. Sessions, speakers, and topics are subject to change.
