At The Alliance, education remains a cornerstone of our mission. While The Alliance does not directly engage in patient-facing communications, we are deeply committed to equipping our healthcare partners—Transplant Centers, Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), and hospitals—with relevant tools and resources that support their work with patients, families, and communities.
In alignment with this mission, The Alliance is proud to feature a collection of book submissions shared by authors from across the country. These works span a variety of themes related to organ donation and transplantation, and they may be useful in supporting the outreach and educational goals of professionals in the field.
Please see the online resource here.
“Education fuels progress in organ donation and transplantation,” said Karri Hobson-Pape, Executive Director of The Alliance. “By sharing these resources, we aim to empower our healthcare partners with materials that may support their patient education efforts and foster meaningful conversations in communities nationwide.”
The collection includes books tailored to a range of audiences—including pediatric, teen, and adult readers—and varies in clinical depth. Because the content may not be universally applicable, The Alliance encourages organizations to evaluate each book individually to determine its appropriateness for their specific settings.
“This initiative was developed in response to the many thoughtful submissions we receive each year from authors hoping to contribute to the national conversation around donation and transplantation,” said McKinley Walsh, Program Manager at The Alliance. “We’re excited to offer this platform to spotlight those contributions while supporting the needs of our healthcare partners.”
While The Alliance does not endorse or promote specific titles, we believe that greater access to educational tools supports our collective mission. When applicable, a mechanism for purchasing or obtaining each book is included.
We also welcome additional submissions to grow this collection. To share a book for consideration, please submit here: https://www.organdonationalliance.org/resources/patient-education-book-resources/submission/
Together, we continue to cultivate a well-informed, donation-supportive culture across the care continuum.
