The Alliance is pleased to launch a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion resource page which curates the many educational programs, materials and tools developed over the past 18 months. The DEI Committee is dedicated to bringing together national leaders in healthcare and leaders in our community of practice to share their perspectives, insights, and experiences about this vital topic.
“The Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance has taken on a leadership position in healthcare by expanding its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to help educate and promote diverse talent at The Alliance and the organ donation and transplantation community through active recruitment, retention, mentoring, and training efforts,” said Deanna Fenton, Senior Manager, Educational Program Development & Operations.
The webpage, which is listed under Resources on the main website, contains the following program highlights:
- Definitions and DEI-specific terminology resources
- Programs from The Alliance DEI-Focused Conversation Series
- Webinars from The Alliance Advancement Series
- DEI-Focused Community Resource Toolbox items (journal articles, effective practice resources, etc.)
“Leveraging the 2022 NASEM report on organ transplants, we will be addressing ongoing disparities in access to donation and transplantation across the organ donation and transplantation continuum. Our endeavors will support our colleagues to attain the highest level of performance among donor hospitals, Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO) and transplant centers through our Advancement Series, Conversation Series, Terminology Resource, and DEI Community Resource Toolbox,” said Glenn Matsuki, Program Consultant and DEI Committee member.
Resources will continue to be added as new programs take place and are shared by the community at large.
