The Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance (The Alliance) has introduced Quality Discussion Boards, a new peer engagement platform designed to bring quality professionals together for candid, solutions-focused discussion centered on the real-world challenges and emerging priorities facing the field.
Quality Discussion Boards is built around meaningful, peer-to-peer dialogue, moving beyond traditional educational formats to create dedicated space for shared learning, idea exchange, and collective problem-solving. To foster open and honest discussion, participation is currently limited to individuals affiliated with an organ procurement organization (OPO) or transplant center.
“In my experience, the most transformative professional growth has happened through peer interactions, gaining real-time insight into how respected professionals approach and solve challenges,” says Lindsay Smith, RN, MSN, CPHQ, Director of Quality for the Vanderbilt Transplant Center. “The Quality Discussion Board gives our community a dedicated place to engage in open and honest dialogue, fostering a safe, respectful environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing perspectives and supporting one another’s professional growth.” Lindsay currently serves on the National Transplant & Donation Quality Collaborative Steering Committee and the Professional Growth Subcommittee.
The platform launches with its first active thread: Tough Talks, a forum focused on navigating the difficult but necessary conversations that define quality work in donation and transplantation. Discussions will center on physician engagement, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and communication across organizations, building the skills needed to address challenging issues in ways that strengthen trust, teamwork, and patient care.
Hannah Cone, BSN, RN, CCTC, Transplant Regulatory Senior Nurse Manager at AdventHealth Orlando, and Co-Chair of the Professional Growth Subcommittee shared, “Quality improvement in donation and transplantation requires us to have hard conversations with our colleagues, across our organizations, and with ourselves. The Tough Talks Discussion Board is a space to build those skills together and learn from peers who understand the challenges and the stakes. The more voices we bring into the conversation, the better equipped we are to improve outcomes for the communities we serve.”
