OmniLife Health’s Clinical Workflow Automation Platform Enhances Capabilities Within Organ Transplant, Expands into Complex Healthcare Environments

0

OmniLife Health, a leader in clinical workflow automation enabling healthcare teams to improve outcomes, enhance efficiencies, reduce costs and improve revenue capture, has expanded its FlowHawk™ platform into additional complex healthcare environments. First developed as a HIPAA-compliant messaging solution for transplant teams, FlowHawk has evolved into an end-to-end platform that automates clinical workflows for organ transplant, organ failure care, oncology, and complex care verticals.

FlowHawk’s expansion is timely; a Becker’s Healthcare survey commissioned by OmniLife Health showed adoption of clinical workflow automation software is on track to double from 2022 to 2024.

“Demand for communication-centric clinical workflow automation is increasing,” said Dalton Shaull, co-founder and CEO, OmniLife Health. “Most healthcare organizations use a combination of paper checklists or Excel spreadsheets, email chains and group chats to manage organ transplants and complex care coordination, but this creates massive administrative burdens that inflate costs, diminish front-line staff productivity and increase patient risk. Automating, centralizing and making these processes more collaborative while maintaining the highest levels of security is critical in today’s complex healthcare environment.”

The challenges of paper-based workflows and fragmented communications are compounded by reduced budgets, staffing shortages, high turnover and record levels of nurse burnout.  Moreover, transplant centers are experiencing drastic growth in organ offers and patient referrals due to policy and legislative changes.

The administrative burden is heavy: on average, a single transplant involves 500 phone calls, emails, messages and texts – often from unsecured personal devices – and can include more than 150 individuals across multiple departments and providers. To boot, consider that 80% of medical errors result from miscommunication between clinicians regarding coordinated patient care, according to  World Hospitals and Health Services.

FlowHawk solves these issues by simplifying, standardizing and automating complex care from beginning to end. The first and only clinical workflow automation tool for transplant hospitals, the platform centralizes all case activity in real time, enables purposeful communication among care teams, accelerates complex care delivery and improves patient safety and outcomes. Additionally, it enables health organizations to scale teams and operations in a cost-effective way.

Major health systems nationwide use FlowHawk, including Mayo Clinic and University of Arkansas Medical Sciences.

Beyond its advantages in complex care delivery, FlowHawk converts communication data into actionable insights that drive process improvement and optimize billing, from increasing reimbursements to reducing uncompensated expenditures. On average, FlowHawk clients see a 3-10% increase in total time study reimbursement in the first year, a result of improved time study accuracy with detailed case activity data. Moreover, NATCO: The Organization for Donation and Transplant Professionals reports the platform resulted in a 50% reduction in time from organ offer to transplant.

Through FlowHawk, OmniLife Health offers more than 30 best practice workflows addressing every area of organ intake management, patient management and living donation. To date, OmniLife has facilitated more than 10,000 transplants cases and continues to expand its platform to support other areas of complex care.
