The article details how X-Therma’s core technology, the XT-ViVo® & TimeSeal® organ transport system, is poised to change the world of transplantation. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the system Breakthrough Device Designation in late 2021 for preserving human kidneys for up to 120 hours (5 days). This advancement directly addresses the urgent crisis where one person currently dies every hour on the organ waiting list, often because viable kidneys cannot be transplanted within the traditional 24-hour limit.
