Jan served as executive director of strategic marketing at the University of Georgia from 2015-2020 where she led the brand marketing, digital strategy, and creative teams to bring to life the University of Georgia brand by communicating a clear and consistent identity of UGA as a top 20 public research university that’s committed to tackling the world’s grand challenges.
From 1985-2015, she served in numerous roles at Emory University including as assistant vice president of University Marketing. She led the adoption of digital tools, including Emory’s first web site, e-mail campaigns, mobile app, and social media platforms. Previously, she served as Emory’s spokesperson and chief media relations officer for 15 years.
She served as a leader in professional organizations, including the Public Relations Society of America Counselors to Higher Education section, the Association of American Universities Public Affairs Network Conference Committee, and the CASE District III and Georgia Educational Advancement Council board of directors.
