A condition in which a transplanted organ fails to function soon after being transplanted into a recipient, meaning that the recipient will either have to start dialysis or undergo another transplant. Primary non-function is rare (less than two percent of all kidney transplants) but is more common in liver transplants. (OPTN Glossary May 2021)
