The Position
The Clinical Educator reports to the Director, Clinical Operations and is responsible for maximizing donation through the education and development of Organ Procurement Coordinators and Organ Recovery Coordinators. The educator will develop, facilitate, and document the onboarding and continuous education and training for the staff. The educator will identify, provide, and encourage development opportunities and ensure staff remain compliant with policies and procedures. The educator will foster a supportive and enriching continuous learning environment.
What You’ll Do
• Prepares and schedules onboarding for newly hired staff in collaboration with the OWS Leadership Team (LT) members to include defining department-specific syllabus, learning objectives, required job competencies and onboarding paperwork to be completed.
• In collaboration with Instructional Design Department, design and develop program content and determine training delivery mechanisms.
• Directs department onboarding programs, to include facilitating or engaging subject matter experts, focused on key learning objectives which increase new hire efficiencies.
• Schedules and participates in new hire check-in sessions with orientee and appropriate LT members, providing real time feedback to ensure progress and to mutually manage expectations.
• Maintains onboarding tracking and documentation records for new hires and ongoing skills development.
• Collaborates with LT members to create and or revise staff learning plans as determined by process, policy, or regulatory changes.
• Provides staff with continuous training and updates on department protocols, MT policies, and regulatory (CMS, UNOS) policies with respect to all aspects of the OWS processes, from receiving a referral to finishing a case.
• Ensure staff maintain effective communication skills, customer service, and utilize escalation tools.
• Regularly job shadows with staff to ensure sustainment of policies and best practices.
• Partners with LT and Educator, Hospital and Family Support to identify and define staff annual competencies, and learning objectives.
• Mentors/coaches team members to address performance gaps through improvement goals under the guidance of LT members.
• Develops and implements evaluation systems to monitor the quality of training delivery.
Schedule
Must have the ability to work a rotating schedule (days/nights/weekends/holidays).
What You’ll Bring
• 2 years Organ Procurement Coordinator (OPC) Experience required
• 1 year as OPC Preceptor required
• Associates Degree in Nursing required
• Passion about the learning process, coaching and mentoring team members
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Leverages expertise of others including educators, Instructional Design & Training department, and Performance Excellence
• Knowledge of impact of job performance on safety of donated organs and tissue on recipient outcomes
• Expert knowledge of all Organ Procurement procedural requirements
• Strength in breaking apart highly technical concepts in a manner that new learners can understand
• Proactively identify and recommend improvements to processes and procedures
• Establish and maintains relationships with stakeholders
