Brief Bio

Dr. Amy L. Friedman joined LiveOnNY as Medical Director in September 2013. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, her medical degree and general surgery training from SUNY HSC at Downstate, and her transplant surgery training from the University of Pennsylvania. Her previous roles include Assistant Medical Director of the New England Organ Bank and a Medical Director of the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network. She has served on numerous study sections for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the Centers for disease Control (CDC), and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and is a peer reviewer for multiple medical journals, Dr. Friedman has been published in JAMA, the New England Journal of Medicine, the British Medical Journal, and the New York Times. She has dedicated herself to improving the experiences of patients with organ failure and their families.
