Dr. Christopher Michetti is a trauma and general surgeon, and critical care physician, board certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care. He joined Inova Medical Group in 2001. He has a special interest in the management of surgical patients who need complex postoperative care, particularly in the intensive care unit, complex abdominal wall hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction, general abdominal surgery and organ donation.
Most recently, Dr. Michetti served as Trauma Medical Director and Professor of Surgery at the Inova Campus of the VCU School of Medicine, and was privileged to help serve the larger trauma community in his leadership roles with the American Trauma Society and American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. He became interested in surgery because it enables him to take definitive action to help heal patients with major health problems that significantly affect their quality of life. His goal is to help his patients heal and recover mentally and physically so they can return to a more happy and healthy life.
