Elijah Pivo

Elijah Pivo is a Doctoral Candidate at MIT, pursuing a PhD in Social and Engineering Systems (SES) within the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS). SES focuses on addressing societally significant problems by combining the methods of statistics and information sciences with engineering and the social sciences. Under the guidance of Prof. Dimitris Bertsimas, Elijah focuses on computational modeling and optimization for the U.S. organ transplantation system, and is collaborating with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) to design and refine organ allocation policies. Before his doctoral studies, Elijah was an engineer at Honeybee Robotics. He holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (with a minor in Robotics) from Johns Hopkins University, is a recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and is an MIT IDSS Hammer Fellow. Elijah is deeply committed to improving lives using science and engineering.
