Ezequiel J Molina, MD is the surgical director of the LVAD and Heart Transplant Program at the Piedmont Heart Institute in Atlanta, GA. He completed his training in cardiothoracic surgery at Columbia University Medical Center, where he served as a clinical instructor, focusing on cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support devices. Dr. Molina specializes in surgery for heart failure including implantation of durable mechanical circulatory support devices, heart transplantation, surgical coronary revascularization, valve surgery and surgical therapies for acute cardiogenic shock. He leads one of the busiest LVAD and heart transplantation programs in the United States. Dr. Molina publishes and presents extensively in his field at national and international meetings. He is also a reviewer for several prestigious medical publications. Dr. Molina serves as member of the STS-Intermacs Database Task Force and the Participant User File Research Program for the STS-Intermacs Registry. He is also a member of the STS Workforce on Surgical Treatment of End-stage Cardiopulmonary Disease. Dr. Molina is an active member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and an STS representative of the IMACS Steering Committee. He has been PI or Sub PI in several LVAD trials. Dr. Molina is fluent in Spanish.
