Dr. Gabe Schnickel is a Professor of Clinical Surgery at UC San Diego, where he serves as Surgical Director of Liver Transplantation and Executive Director of the REIMAGINE Center. A board-certified transplant surgeon specializing in liver and kidney transplantation as well as hepatobiliary surgery, Dr. Schnickel’s research interests include advancing innovation, sustainability, and compassionate care in organ donation and transplantation.
Dr. Schnickel earned his BA in Molecular Biology and his MD from the University of Colorado, followed by an MPH from the University of Michigan. He completed his general surgery residency and abdominal transplant surgery fellowship at UCLA. Outside his professional pursuits, he is an avid cyclist and a committed advocate for mindfulness and well-being.
