Hector M. Madariaga, MD FASN is a transplant nephrologist at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Madariaga completed medical school at the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez (UACJ) in Chihuahua, Mexico. Subsequently, he completed his internal medicine residency at Carney Hospital, an affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He then went on to complete his nephrology fellowship at Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse, NY followed by a transplant nephrology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Madariaga’s clinical interests include racial and ethnic disparities in kidney transplantation and improving access to care, medically complicated transplant candidates, simultaneous liver kidney transplant recipients and living kidney donation.He also has a special interest in Social Media & Medical Education and mentoring of medical students and residents. In addition, he currently serves as a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), he is a Social Media Editor for the Kidney Medicine Journal, Visual abstract Editor for the ASN journals (Kidney360, CJASN and JASN) and is part of several workgroups within the American Society of Transplantation (AST).
