Jennifer Milton is Clinical Assistant Professor, Chief Administrative Officer, and Interim Chair of the Malú and Carlos Alvarez Transplant Center at UT Health San Antonio. She leads integration of business, clinical, and strategic efforts across adult and pediatric transplant programs—including lung, liver, and kidney—as well as the Texas Liver and Pancreas Tumor Center, which she is proud to have submitted the original business plan for over a decade ago.
A 30-year veteran of the field, Jennifer began as an organ donation nurse coordinator and has become a national leader in transplant operations, finance, and policy. She established the Center for Life, a first-of-its-kind Donor Care Unit that has impacted more than 104,000 organ, eye, and tissue recipients.
Under her leadership, the Institute has earned national recognition: the liver program ranked #1 in the U.S. by Interlink Health Network for three consecutive years, the pediatric living donor kidney program is among the largest in the country, and both kidney and liver programs have maintained “ELITE” status for excellence in outcomes and access.
Jennifer has held prominent national roles including Past Chair of the UNOS Policy Oversight Committee and the current Immediate Past Chair of Donate Life America—where she helped launch the National Living Donor Registry—and now Chair of the AST Public Policy Committee. She is a founding faculty member of the Transplant Quality Institute and has been recognized with numerous honors, including Transplant Administrator of the Year (2023) and Health Care Hero by the San Antonio Business Journal.
