Justin Cole is the quality specialist for the lung transplant, heart transplant, and VAD implant programs at UC San Diego’s Center for Transplantation. He has a diverse background in quality and process improvement that started 21 years ago in the Navy as a nuclear mechanic on submarines. After his Naval career, Justin moved through multiple areas of quality ranging from software to aerospace, before finding his place in transplant. When Justin is not working, he helps run the zoo that is his home, where the wildlife includes his 9-year-old son, 7-year-old daughter, a dog, two cats, more fish than you can count, and an infinite number of bugs that his children routinely bring into the house.
