Kelly Ranum

Brief Bio

Kelly Ranum began her tenure with LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) in 1995 as a recovery coordinator. She has served in her current position as CEO for the past 18 years. Under her direction, LOPA has been at the forefront of organ donation, recovery and donor family services. In addition to creating the first web-based donor management system (R3), LOPA developed and shares “Donation Decoded,” a complex system of metrics that predicts donation potential after circulatory death. The agency also created the first podcast from the donation community; the donation community’s first Advance Practice Coordinators certified to perform echocardiograms and a nationally-renowned anencephalic recovery program. Recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work for the past eight years, LOPA’s supportive environment goes beyond its employees. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and has been CEPTC certified since 1995. With an extensive background in critical care, Kelly was drawn to the donation field after experiencing firsthand the benefits of donation on both donor families and recipients. Her unwavering commitment has led her to be tapped as President of AOPO, where she will serve until the summer of 2020.
