I’ve been working with donor families at LifeSource since 2005. Prior to entering the organ donation field I was a Personal-Trust Officer at Wells Fargo bank, an Assistant Academic Dean at Mitchell-Hamline College of Law, and a Social Worker in the Chemical Dependency field. Law degree from Mitchell-Hamline College of Law and Bachelor of Social Work from St Teresa College, Winona, MN. On the side I am an earnest but poorly skilled woodworker.
FPA Resistance: Building and Leveraging Relationships
The Alliance Conversation Series brings you cost-free, fast-paced collaborative opportunities that highlight successful donation and transplantation practices across the country. Through shared insight, multidisciplinary experts identify solutions to critical challenges affecting the community of practice and actively share them for open discussion and broader knowledge of effective practices.
Sessions are designed to be approximately 30-45 minutes in length and encourage real-time feedback and participation from viewers.
Overview: Families frequently overrule the wishes of dying patients who are registered organ donors. Our discussion will focus on providing examples of effective relationships and how they have leveraged their bond in establishing an FPA resistance protocol. Health literacy issues and identifying factors that influence FPA resistance in multi-cultural communities will create some lively and insightful conversations.
