Original Webinar Information
Recent studies have highlighted the success of HCV-positive to HCV-negative transplants thus proving the effectiveness of anti-HCV therapy in the post-transplant setting. This course will provide an overview of the history of HCV+ to HCV- transplants, the current landscape and knowledge, and the considerations of operationalizing this into routine care. Join us to hear from Dr. David Goldberg and Dr. Peter Reese, co-leaders in the THINKER, USHER, and SHELTER trials which were pilot studies focused on transplanting organs from HCV-infected donors into HCV-negative recipients.
At the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:
- Explain the published data on transplanting organs from HCV-viremic donors into HCV-negative patients.
- Discuss the ethical and financial barrier to broad implementation of transplanting organs from HCV-viremic donors into HCV-negative patients.
