Navigating DCD Cases: Recognizing Missed Opportunities

Thursday, September 07, 2023, at 2:00pm

While we are incredibly proud of our millionth transplant milestone, we also acknowledge the devastating loss of 17 people every day who die waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. Paired with the ongoing scrutiny of OPO performance, it is more important than ever to ensure we are maximizing every donation opportunity, including DCD. How do we use data to recognize underdeveloped areas of growth for both DBD and DCD donors, then subsequently take action to address and maximize them? How do we grow our DCD rate to the NASEM-recommended 45%, without affecting our DBD rates? How do we create positive cultures of change in our organizations?

Join us as we explore ways to unite Clinical, Business Intelligence, and Performance Improvement resources to expose issues and opportunities, before, during, and after referral and case processes. Learn from representatives of top-performing OPOs how they have analyzed data to inspire change and progress within their organizations, eliminated barriers, and built resilience to overcome setbacks and reach their lofty goals!

Recovering Organs Under the HOPE Act: Procurement Challenges, Solutions, and Strategies to Maximize Donors

Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at 2:00pm

Is HIV an automatic rule-out for donation? Not necessarily! A disease that was once considered a death sentence and, therefore, an automatic exclusion for organ donation can now make a world of difference for potential transplant recipients living with HIV. Focusing on the procurement phase, this webinar will explore best practices for identifying and managing HIV+ donors, and provide guidelines for navigating the authorization, allocation, and recovery processes.
