Heather Pratt

Brief Bio

Heather is a Clinical Operations Manager at Donor Network West, where she leads a multidisciplinary team that monitors, evaluates, and optimizes the complete donor process, from referral to recovery and transplantation. The team’s goal is to maximize organ donation opportunities to recover more organs for transplant.

Heather focuses on the development of strategies and action plans related to donor referrals, authorization, clinical management, and organ procurement processes. She is committed to serving HOPE donors, their families, and any recipients who are able to receive these life-saving gifts. She has worked collaboratively with the HOPE in Action research team to normalize and maximize HIV organ donation and research internally at Donor Network West, as well as share what her team has learned with OPOs across the country.

Heather spends every available weekend on the slopes skiing with her husband and children. She is grateful that her kids although, much better skiers, still want to hang out with her on the mountain.

Recovering Organs Under the HOPE Act: Procurement Challenges, Solutions, and Strategies to Maximize Donors

Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at 2:00pm

Is HIV an automatic rule-out for donation? Not necessarily! A disease that was once considered a death sentence and, therefore, an automatic exclusion for organ donation can now make a world of difference for potential transplant recipients living with HIV. Focusing on the procurement phase, this webinar will explore best practices for identifying and managing HIV+ donors, and provide guidelines for navigating the authorization, allocation, and recovery processes.
