Implications of the Proposed Changes to the Medicare Organ Transplantation Requirements

Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 1:00pm

On December 1st, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking public comments on the proposed changes to the requirements that Transplant Programs and Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) must meet in order to be eligible for participation in Medicare and Medicaid Programs. CMS issued this request in response to the unfavorable comments the agency received regarding the previously proposed changes to the requirements in its FY 2022 IPPS proposed rule, which stakeholders felt did not holistically consider the impact of those changes to the transplantation system. The intended goal of this webinar is to raise awareness about the potential changes to the transplantation requirements and engage donation and transplant professionals in an open discussion to evaluate the prospective impact these changes will have on organ availability and access.
