Navigating the Future of Lung Allocation: The Impact and Evolution of the New CAS Framework

Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 3:00pm

In December 2021, the OPTN Board of Directors approved a policy to overhaul the process for matching lung donors and recipients, which was implemented on March 9, 2023, introducing a single, composite allocation score tailored to each lung donor-recipient match. During this webinar, we will be joined by Dr. Matthew Hartwig from Duke University Medical Center who will provide an in-depth analysis of how the CAS system has been integrated into the continuous distribution framework, assess its impact on organ allocation so far, and explore future implications and recommendations for enhancing CAS as the transplant community adapts to a period of rapid growth.
