Woodlhey Ambroise serves as LifeGift’s director of organ operations and surgical recovery. She began her career at LifeGift in 2012 as a donation clinical specialist, advancing to her current leadership role in July 2021.

Woodlhey leads a team of more than 40 professionals who are responsible for administering and coordinating all aspects of the initial triage of ventilated referrals, allocation of organs for transplant and research, the organ recovery process for local and import/flyout cases, and preservation of organs.

LifeGift’s organ placement center has grown from a team of 7 to more than 16 coordinators with Woodlhey’s guidance. She also serves as an administrator on call to provide daily management of LifeGift’s organ operations.

Woodlhey obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Biology minor from St. Thomas University in Miami, Fla. She earned a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. She is a registered respiratory therapist with experience in critical care.

Woodlhey has served as a national speaker for the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and has authored/co-authored many posters presented at AOPO and NATCO – the organization for donation and transplant professionals. Woodlhey also has served on the planning committee for the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT). She has served as the president of Houston Haitian United (HHU) and previously was a member of Houston Caribbean Professional Association (HCPA).

Woodlhey is passionate about her work in organ donation and looks forward to bringing her extensive experience in organ utilization, recovery, and perfusion to the OPO Committee. With her diverse background, she looks forward to bringing new ideas and perspectives to the community we serve, advocating for change that will aid in advancing the mission of saving lives through organ donation.

To reduce the number of non-utilized donated kidneys, organ procurement organizations (OPOs) and transplant centers have been exploring ways to partner together to identify best practices and implement process improvement measures. Over the course of this discussion, we will examine transplant center acceptance practices to better assess why kidney offers may be declined.
