The following announcement has been shared from ABTC:

Since the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) and the Transplant Financial Coordinators Association (TFCA) announced their partnership to administer the TFC certification exam, the ABTC CTFC Exam Committee has finalized testing procedures to deliver the exam:

  • The next exam window is May 1st – 22nd, 2024.
  • The exam will be delivered in PSI exam centers.
  • Online applications for the TFC certification exam will be available beginning April 1st on the ABTC Certification Management Platform, Certemy (https://abtc.net/candidates/examination).
  • Exam fees are: TFCA Member $100, Non-Member $175 (An additional $150 application fee will be assessed on all applications)
  • Following acceptance of individual applications, PSI will provide exam scheduling information.
  • TFCA members receive discounted registration to the annual conference and access to the resource guide. Non-members have access to alternate study materials available at both ABTC and TFCA. Please visit the TFCA website for more information on membership (https://tfcassociation.org/members/become-a-member/).

The ABTC is working with TFCA to administer the recertification process. For those individuals currently TFC certified, certifications expiring will be extended through 12/31/2024. Individual recertification records will be maintained on the Certemy platform. The following structure has been determined for earning continuing education units, i.e. ABTC Continuing Education Points for Transplant Certification (CEPTCs). The following structure has been defined:

Expiration Year CEPTCs (CEUs) required
for recertification
2024 15
2025 30
2026 45
2027 60

Further details regarding the CTFC recertification process will soon be available on the ABTC and TFCA websites and the TFCA Listserv.

Achievement of ABTC certification demonstrates true excellence in organ donation and transplantation practice. The addition of the CTFC exam aligns with the TFCA and ABTC’s Mission and Vision: “Better outcomes for the organ and transplant professional and population.”
