Staffing Challenges in Donation and Transplantation: Exploring New Organizational Structures, Recruitment, and Retention Methods

Presented on: Thursday, November 04, 2021

Presented by UNOS and The Alliance

Across the healthcare continuum, organizations are experiencing a significant labor shortage that is adversely impacting their day-to-day operations. As a community, it is critical that we address these challenges and implement effective strategies that will circumvent the issue and promote career longevity. During this program, we will be joined by a multi-disciplinary panel of leaders who will discuss the ongoing challenges of hiring and retaining staff, and share insights related to new staffing models, effective onboarding strategies, potential training opportunities, and approaches to improving employee retention.

  • Identify potential gaps within their organization’s current staffing models, employment policies, and compensation/benefit packages.
  • Outline current challenges and opportunities related to the onboarding and training of staff.
  • Apply strategies learned to effectively recruit and retain staff and promote organizational success.
  • Evaluate the pros and cons of implementing new organizational structures such as outsourced vs in-house labor models, on-site vs. remote/hybrid workforces, etc.
