The Alliance Announces 2024 Advancement Learning Series Webinar Program Topics

The Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance (The Alliance) is proud to announce the topics for its highly anticipated 2024 Advancement Learning Series. This esteemed series features over 25 live webinars throughout the year, focusing on the latest and most impactful topics within the donation and transplantation community. The 2024 program is structured into two primary categories: Donation Focus and Transplant Focus, with additional Special and Innovation Focus program topics to be announced at a later date.

“The Advancement Learning Series is a platform to cascade the knowledge of leading experts in the field,” says Deanna Fenton, Senior Manager of Educational Program Development and Operations at The Alliance. “Our ultimate goal is to offer opportunities for community collaboration and equip healthcare professionals with the necessary tools to advance practices and improve patient survival. With the ongoing support of the entire community of practice, we’re able to accomplish just that.”

In addition, key topics are also planned together with our Conversation Series programs to intentionally develop deeper discussions in the community on key topics, such as performance improvement, maximizing partnerships and organ preservation. 

Registration is currently open for programs in early 2024, and two additional Brain Death-focused webinars are planned for March 2024. Program topics include:

  • February 6, 2024: Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP)
  • March 5, 2024: Tissue Authorization Tips & Best Practices
  • May 7, 2024: Centralized DCD Recovery
  • June 4, 2024: Family Readiness Project
  • August 6, 2024: Maximizing Community Partnerships: Allocation & Continuous Distribution (Part of a series on Maximizing Partnerships)
  • September 12, 2024: Maximizing Community Partnerships: EMR Access & Utilization of Technology (Part of a series on Maximizing Partnerships)
  • October 1, 2024: Maximizing Community Partnerships: First-Person Authorization in DCD (Part of a series on Maximizing Partnerships)
  • November 5, 2024: Caring for Families of ANR/CNR Donors

Special Sub-Series: Count on Us – Performance Improvement

To kick off the beginning of the year, in partnership with SRTR, the Alliance is hosting key events in the spring focused on new metrics of performance, followed with discussions about how to drive performance improvements.  This multi-day event program will take place for both the donation and transplantation community.

    • January 23, 2024:  SRTR Annual Session – Using SRTR Data to Monitor Transplant Program Performance
    • January 25, 2024: Performance Improvement – How to Utilize MPSC Metrics for Transplant Programs
  • Donation Focus:
    • April 11, 2024: SRTR Annual Session – Using SRTR Data to Monitor OPO Program Performance
    • April 25, 2024: Performance Improvement: How to Utilize MPSC Metrics for OPO Programs

These webinars are designed to foster knowledge exchange and to enhance the skills of professionals engaged in the critical areas of organ donation and transplantation. The Alliance is committed to advancing the field through these comprehensive and dynamic educational offerings.

“Recognizing 2024 will be a year of growth, evolution and major change for our entire field, we have intentionally left openings in our programming calendar,” says Karri Hobson-Pape, Executive Director of The Alliance. “These have been planned so that we can quickly respond to major issues, filling those times with appropriate program content as needed.”
